The military wing of Syria\'s foreign-backed opposition, known as the Free Syrian Army says it will not take part in the upcoming conference in Geneva which is aimed at ending the conflict in Syria. Mokdad told Press TV that the international community must give guarantees that President Bashar al-Assad will step down. He says the opposition, Syrian National Council will hold a vote to decide whether to take part in the conference or not. A few days ago, the leader of the FSA pledged to continue fighting despite the planned peace conference . The UN, US and Russia have been trying for months to persuade the foreign-backed opposition to attend the peace talks with the government in January.
