The fresh round of talks between the representatives of the Syrian government and the foreign-backed opposition has got off to a rough start with few signs of progress. Brahimi-- who was making the remarks after a joint meeting with the two sides-- added that there is a need for cooperation between the negotiating parties and the support of the international community for talks to be fruitful. The U-N-Arab League mediator also confirmed that there he will have a joint meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov, and U-S undersecretary of state for political affairs Wendy Sherman on Friday.
